Collection sites at Greenfield Community College (GCC) and
Orange Transfer Station
For residents and businesses in the following towns: *Residents of Barre and Sunderland must pay to participate. You must PRE-REGISTER to participate. After registering, you will receive a postcard in the mail assigning you a time and giving you directions to the collection site. Please call our office if you haven't received a registration time within seven days of submitting your information. All registration times will be emailed between 9/13 and 9/20. Businesses will be charged for disposal cost. Call 413-772-2438 for business registration information. Materials NOT collected: auto batteries, household batteries, fluorescent lights, compact fluorescent lights, mercury thermostats, mercury thermometers. Most town transfer stations accept these items year-round. |
Any substance labeled: CAUSTIC, TOXIC, CORROSIVE, POISON, FLAMMABLE, WARNING, DANGER, CAUTION
FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS* (see below for alternate disposal options), LATEX PAINT, ASBESTOS, GAS CYLINDERS, RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL, EMPTY CONTAINERS FROM HAZARDOUS PRODUCTS, EXPLOSIVES INCLUDING AMMUNITION AND FIREWORKS
*Mercury-containing items, such as thermostats and thermometers, will not be accepted; fluorescent bulbs are not accepted. CFLs and other fluorescent bulbs are accepted at the following locations: Lowe’s Stores; at all District transfer stations (handle carefully and hand to attendant); and Greenfield Transfer Station (handle carefully and hand to attendant). Additionally, mercury-containing items and bulbs are accepted at the Regional Hazardous Waste Collection sites in Colrain and Conway. |
